Highlight of FIRE Alumni - Mariana de Albuquerque L. Braulio - Brasil
FIRE internship was my first experience abroad.
It brought me the opportunity to understand how University (Orleans) and industry (Tata Steel) operate in Europe, expanding not only my knowledge on refractories but also my global network. Consequently, I had the chance to found my own consulting company, being initially supported by research projects in partnership with important FIRE members, such as Imerys and Elkem. I may also recognize that Federal University of São Carlos played a key role on opening the doors and promoting my development on the refractory area. It is certainly a win-win environment, that improves the overall quality of the refractory market.

Highlight of FIRE Alumni - Murilo Henrique Moreira - UFSCar - Brasil
Academic life is a continuous cycle of learning, discovering and transmitting knowledge. I entered this dance in 2014 when I came across refractories in the first semester of my Bachelor's in Materials Engineering, by joining the research group led by Professor Victor Carlos Pandolfelli at the Federal University of São Carlos. That decision shaped my professional career. High temperature materials were my entrance to discovering three passions: the scientific method, computational simulations, and advanced experimental tests.
